Edward Scissorhands is a fictional character, portrayed by Johnny Depp, from the film of the same name. He first appeared in the movie Edward Scissorhands, released in 1990.

Edward is an artificial humanoid created by an inventor (played by Vincent Price) who dies before completing him, leaving Edward with scissor blades for hands. He lives alone in the inventor's mansion until he is discovered by Peg Boggs, a local Avon saleswoman, who takes him into her home.

Edward struggles to adapt to suburban life due to his scissor hands. He discovers he has a talent for hedge trimming and hairstyling, gaining popularity and acceptance, albeit temporarily. Misunderstandings and fear eventually lead to the community turning against him.
